Laplace are palazzo pants; long, wide-legged and worn high with an elasticated waistband. Name after the mathematician Pierre-Simon Laplace, these are trousers with side seam cables and pockets. The remaining parts are knitted in stockinette stitch to make the cable stand out. 

Laplace is worked flat in four pieces for the ultimate fit and made to be worn with the Khayam jacket as a set. Why not make Laplace into culottes by making them shorter, to below the knees?

Intended ease: 18 cm to 28 cm positive ease at waist

Measurement (cm approx):

Inside leg: 80cm

Crotch height: 29cm before waistband (4cm)

Full length: 113cm including waistband.

Materials Required:

BWM 5ply Classic 200g balls x 4 (5, 5, 6, 6, 7) balls

2 sets 3.75 mm/US 5 circular needle (100 cm)
3.75 mm/US 5 circular needle for pockets (40 cm)
2 sets 3.25 mm/US 3 circular needle (80 cm) for waistband
(Remember to adjust needle size as needed to match gauge)

Stitch markers (removable), stitch holders, cable needle and yarn needle.
1 (1, 1.5, 1.5, 1.5, 1.5) m elastic, 25 mm wide.

Tension:

24 sts and 34 rows in st st using 3.75 mm/US 5 needle over 10 cm.
16 sts in Honeycomb cable using 3.75 mm/US 5 needle over 5.5 cm.
